Cache Hunt Events and Event Information
Tour De Della La Croix! - Translate it - You'll get it!
Welcome to the Tour De Della La Croix! Cache Hunt. A Different kind of cache Hunt!
Tired of the same old style cache hunting? Here's your chance to cache with a kick! Test your mapping skills, solving puzzles, and just figure out clues to find the next location you need to go! Beware though - you might find yourself some places you don't want to be!
This daytime hunt will take you on a driving tour of the area around the site of the 4th Annual Halloween Radioactive Cache Event. You will need to solve a clue at each clue site in order to find your way to the next clue site.
Don’t worry, the clues are not jigsaw based, or anything that requires specific knowledge. However, you may want a few lifelines standing by, just incase. No lifelines? Feeling Stumped? Don’t worry, the answer to the next clue will be provided, for a price. Once you’ve solved the clue, grab your proof, and head on to the next clue site. Travel to the most clue sites in the least amount of time, with the fewest clue cheaters to win! All participating teams will receive complete rules and instructions prior to start of event.
Activity for the younger members of your team will be provided at each clue site, providing their own jr hunt.
Rules:
A GPS is NOT REQUIRED in order to complete this event!
This is a PRE-REGISTER only event. Registration ends on Oct 15th, 2006. There are a limited number of teams allowed to participate in this event. As a result, register early. If we have more teams then space, we will hold a lottery to determine participants. NOTE: You will still need to visit the Main Registration Table for the remainder of the event activities.
All participating teams must check in and receive a wristband, evening parking pass, club packet and day of event update. (wristband and parking pass required to remain at the event site for remaining evening activities and will serve as ID that you are registered for this event) Please do not leave non-participating members at grounds while out on this driving hunt as we will be busy working on the rest of the event set up.
Check out will begin at 10:00AM and will close at 10:45AM. The event briefing will begin at 11:00AM. The first launch will begin at 11:15AM.

At the start of the Event, an official hunt packet will be handed out to each team. Each team will have a different sheet!
Teams completing the hunt must return ALL required items to be verified by our Independent Judging and Prize Panel. Points will be taken off for late arrival. Discrepancies in missing items will result in point reductions. Pay attention to YOUR sheet and make sure you have everything you need before you leave each location. A Cheat envelop will be available for each team at each location. Opening the envelope will result in point reductions.

Other Events and Activities
You're not wanting to miss this little visit... See who has come to rest here this year! Visit with some of your old favorites like Casper, Trucker Dan, LazyK, and the villainous Captain Morty McVane - Caching Pirate Extraordinary! and lets not forget about our infamous ARTIMIS the Arizona Approver! Other cachers look forward to seeing you again too!
This year the event is being held at the Buena Tierra Camp Grounds in Casa Grande, Arizona. The terrain is easy, however, some of the hunts are in the desert trail areas. Dressing up in costume would be appropriate, though not required. Consideration in costume design for the hunt would be wise! We strongly recommend close toad shoes as it will be dark and hard to see.
There is camping this year (da - its at a camp ground!) - Here are the details and costs...
Donations:
This is a FREE event. However, it costs lots of money for the folks that put on this event. If you would like to donate, please feel free to do so.
Food and Drink:
Come join us for food and fun before the event activities start. We'll supply the meat; you supply the side dishes pot luck style! Please bring your own drinks, ice, and drink containers. No alcoholic beverages are allowed at the event. We also prefer that you do not bring things in glass containers. Please clearly mark your pot luck dishes with your team name so it will not get lost. Please make sure after dinner you re-claim your dishes and cleanup. To make sure we have enough food, please RSVP at least one week before the event so we can plan appropriately . Please post a note on Geocaching.com as to what you will bring for the pot luck to give others ideas. We will have silverware and plates for eating, but ask that you bring some of your own to help out.
Things to bring:
A portable black light will greatly enhance your experience, but is not required for any of the events. A flashlight is strongly recommended and should be brought. Required items for the event will be supplied. Extra batteries for your GPS and portable light sources would be a good idea. Sorry, we will not have extras this year. There are limited tables and seating at this park. Please bring a chair for each member of your team that wishes not to sit on grass or stand for long periods of time. Excellent Bathroom facilities are available - enjoy!
Camping/Hotels/Other Amenities:
Buena Tierra Camp Grounds in Casa Grande, Arizona. - if you would like to camp out at the event, you MUST fill out the form and submit your reservation. We have made special arrangements and reserved areas specifically for event guests.
There is also a list of local hotels you can contact directly.
Please let us know if you need more information. We will try and help out.
Travel Bugs:
This event is not a Travel Bug exchange. However, if you wish to do so, please make your own arrangements separate from the event. Thanks in advance for you cooperation in this matter.
Signature Items:
If you wish to bring signature items to the event to be given out, please contact us before the event to make these arrangements. Due to the tight schedule, it is hard to do this ad hoc. We will be happy to include and disburse them any way you like. Thanks in advance for your cooperation.
Baby Sitting:
Baby sitting for the main adult events will be available for those that choose not to take the Jr. Cachers with them. Games and other activities will be provided during this time. An announcement will be made prior to the start of the two main events on where to go and drop the little ones off. Immediately following your return from the trails, please reclaim them.
Parking:
There is lots of parking this year!!! - YOU MUST CHECK IN AT THE DESK AND GET YOUR PASS AND ARMBANDS FOR EACH PERSON!!! Otherwise they will tow you... That trick would be on you! - We 're already paying your way in - so please just check in at the desk.
Event Times and Closure:
We have posted the times that each event will start and end. Since we do not know the exact number of participants in advance, we would appreciate an RSVP as soon as you know to help us gauge time. It is your responsibility to be on time. Teams that are late or do not show up at the scheduled event start time, will not be able to participate in that event.
The event is over at 11:00pm sharp! We hope to have the event completed no later than 10:30 pm. This should give us enough time to pack and cleanup. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
Volunteers:
We are looking for two types of volunteers this year. If you are interested, please contact us directly.
1) We have VIP guests that come to the event. They generally know nothing about geocaching or how to use a GPS. We are looking for teams that are willing to "show them the ropes" and allow them to participate in the events with you.
2) We would appreciate help in dismantling, packing, and cleaning up the grounds after the event.
Noise:
We will not use any amplified sounds for music or announcements. This may make it hard to hear when events are starting. Although we've been told our MC has a loud enough voice to cause earth quakes, start times will be posted throughout the event. Please make sure you keep track of time and help us reduce the noise level by coming to the start of each event.
Prizes:
Prizes will be awarded directly after each event unless announced at other times. When you complete an event, please stay in the main event area to receive prizes. Raffle and door prize announcements will be made throughout the event. If there is no taker, we will draw another number. So, keep your tickets handy and listen for the announcements.
Prize Winners:
If you win a prize, please make sure you have your picture taken for our sponsors. If you need to leave before your picture has been taken, please notify a staff member.
We will post the team winners, prizes won, and event pictures on our web site after the event, and the hosts have finally gotten some rest.
Event Logbook:
The log book will need to be found and signed before claiming this event as a find. The log book will be placed at the registration table.
Disclaimers:
Prizes have no cache (cash) value. No deposit, No Return. All good prizes may be returned to us. Use of metal detectors or Geiger Counters would be very helpful, but not allowed! We are not responsible for lost team members, broken items, or psychiatric care or prolonged nightmares either before, or caused by the event. All participants are completely responsible for their own property, children, or otherwise and participate solely at their own risk.
